Bonjour à tous… et bonne année, si vous n’étiez pas passés sur l’article de Décembre paru très tardivement.
Janvier a été un mois chargé, et pas seulement en termes de lecture. Sortir voir des amis (dans le respect des gestes barrière rassurez-vous) fait du bien (la marche pour éviter les transports beaucoup moins), j’ai pu faire quelques photos malgré la lumière pas ouf, lire pas mal de trucs, en recevoir aussi…
Côté écriture, le spin-off n°2 de The Last Sorceress se poursuit tranquillement peu à peu.
Les lectures du mois
Avec dix critiques, il y a de quoi faire ! Bon, à un manga et deux exceptions près, tout est en dessous des 200 pages, ça aide un peu.
L’inattendue meilleure lecture du mois est Séduction au palazzo !

A la base je voulais attendre début Février pour faire partir le gros colis US, mais comme tout était dans le casier le 20 et que savoir mon stylo là-bas me filait l’angoisse… Bilan : beaucoup de livres.

Et chacun en profite pour se lancer dans des digressions cocasses, nostalgiques ou cyniques, qui donnent une image très vivante de ce qui fait son quotidien.
A travers ces histoires drolatiques, tragiques ou émouvantes, à travers ces confessions truculentes, enthousiastes ou désabusées mais toujours pleines de verve, on voit revivre tout le petit peuple de Yoshiwara, avec ses lois, ses usages, ses rites, et ses savoureux mystères.

Ça, c’est récupéré au passage après avoir été chercher la duologie « La Fiancée » à Durance. Mr ne m’a pas laissé m’arrêter devant l’étagère, mais j’ai eu le temps de voir « Yoshiwara », de l’attraper et survoler le résumé avant qu’il ne m’empêche de regarder davantage le rayon. Il a probablement eu raison.

Ruy Valiente est un homme d’affaires débordé et, s’il y a une chose qu’il déteste par-dessus tout, ce sont les tentatives de ses proches pour le marier ! Réfractaire à tout type d’engagement, il propose donc à Suzy Madderton, la belle danseuse qu’il vient de rencontrer, de se faire passer pour sa fiancée le temps d’un séjour familial en Espagne. Mais, à jouer l’amoureux transi, Ruy est bientôt gagné par le doute. Se pourrait-il que la délicate Suzy soit parvenue à le séduire, et cela bien malgré elle ?
Nope. J’ai su que je n’allais pas le garder dès le moitié du truc.
Ruy n’était pas seulement né avec la proverbiale cuillère en argent dans la bouche, il avait grandi au milieu de l’argenterie !
Ruy, parlons-en. Il n’a pas un mauvais fond, mais il décide de tout, tout le temps, sans que l’avis de l’héroïne ne compte et ça, c’est éliminatoire.

Employée dans un palace grec, Marnie passe le plus clair de son temps à travailler. C’est donc avec plaisir qu’elle accepte de dîner avec le bel inconnu qu’elle a rencontré sur la plage. Mais, lorsqu’elle découvre son identité après une fabuleuse nuit d’amour, Marnie tombe des nues. Son amant n’est autre que Leonidas Kanonidou, l’un des plus célèbres milliardaires de la planète. Loin de la réjouir, cette nouvelle ne fait que confirmer ses doutes : tous deux n’ont rien en commun, si ce n’est un désir insensé…
C’était faaaaaaaaaaaaade. Pas mauvais, mais fade. Rien de ouf, rien qui permette de s’en souvenir… ni donne envie d’y retourner.

Pour tenir la promesse faite à l’une de ses clientes – organiser son mariage au somptueux castello Bellamo, en Sicile –, Dara Devlin est prête à tout. Y compris à céder à l’odieux chantage que lui impose l’énigmatique propriétaire de l’antique bâtisse, Leo Valente : il ne conclura un accord avec elle qu’à la condition qu’elle organise une soirée pour lui. Si le défi semble tout ce qu’il y a de plus simple pour une wedding planner reconnue comme elle, Dara prend pourtant très vite conscience qu’elle a sous-estimé le trouble que Leo lui inspire. En effet, loin de la stimuler, il lui fait perdre tous ses réflexes professionnels et provoque en elle une foule de pensées lascives susceptibles de la déconcentrer…
EDIT : Quand je l’ai reçu, je n’arrivais pas à déterminer si ce résumé me donnait envie de lire ou, à l’inverse, passer mon chemin (sauf que je l’avais dit de façon bien moins sympa).
Après lecture, en réalité, il s’agit d’une lecture très sympa. Un peu classique, mais sympa.
Il a tout de même fait les frais du désherbage de mi-2023.

Il y dix ans de cela, Angelique soignait les chevaux de Sa Majesté Valentin de Thallasia. Mais leur attirance réciproque et leur liaison inévitable ont engendré un scandale tel qu’ils ont été contraints de se séparer. Alors qu’ils se retrouvent aujourd’hui, le désir entre eux est toujours aussi vif et les voilà de nouveau amants. Jusqu’au moment où Angelique révèle à Valentin qu’elle attend un enfant de lui. Dès lors, tandis que la rumeur enfle dans le pays au sujet de leur mésalliance, un seul choix s’offre à eux : sceller leur destinée par un mariage royal !
Grosse surprise en le recevant parce que 1) j’ai cru avoir un doublon 2) en fait non, je l’avais pas pris en VO. Comment ça, je l’avais pas pris en VO ? Yep. J’ai toujours pas compris pourquoi, mais l’erreur est réparée du coup…
Lui aussi a finalement été désherbé mi-2023. Pas la place de garder les trucs qui m’ont laissé tiédasse…

Passer l’été dans un palazzo italien ? C’est un rêve devenu réalité pour Olivia, embauchée comme photographe par Zach Merrill, pour couvrir les mariages organisés sur sa propriété. Toutefois, sur place, elle se heurte à un problème majeur : les sentiments qu’elle éprouve immédiatement pour le propriétaire des lieux, ainsi que pour sa petite fille, la détournent dangereusement de son travail. Résolue à rester professionnelle, Olivia tente donc de garder ses distances avec son patron…
A première vue ça ressemblait beaucoup trop à Séduction au palazzo lu (et kiffé) ce mois-ci. En pratique, ça n’avait pas grand-chose à voir… et c’était moins bon, aussi.
Lui aussi a quitté mes étagères mi-2023.

Il suffit d’un regard pour que Juliet tombe amoureuse. Ralph Castellucci devient son univers. Son cœur, son âme, son obsession. Alors quand l’aristocrate italien la demande en mariage elle accepte avec bonheur de se lier à lui, bien qu’ils ne soient pas du même monde. Six mois plus tard, hélas, le fossé entre eux est bien réel. Ralph l’a trahie, et Juliet exige le divorce. Une épreuve, car son époux semble quant à lui décidé à la reconquérir au cours d’un grand bal donné à Vérone…
Ça peut être vachement sympa. je n’ai pas vérifié sa date de sortie, mais là encore, je m’étonne un peu de ne pas l’avoir pris à sa sortie VO…
Ils s’étaient rencontrés à Rome, la ville la plus romantique au monde, alors qu’elle n’était pas du tout venue y chercher l’amour. En l’occurrence, ce soir-là, elle cherchait un chat.
… Eh bien j’aurais rien raté, en fait. Mais alors vraiment rien.

Pas grand-chose ce mois-ci. L’arrivée de ma très attendue bouteille d’encre Ferris Wheel Press (achetée plus pour le packaging que l’encre, à la base, pour être honnête) a quand même été une bonne occasion de faire un truc. Ah, et finalement, je kiffe cette encre, elle est vraiment belle.

Bon, pas vraiment une doll, mais pas un pot de fleurs non plus donc on va le mettre ici :
Il a eu droit à son shooting d’arrivée, avec un vrai décor que j’ai mis une heure à mettre en place et tout, non pas une mais deux guirlandes, un éclairage supplémentaire et tout le tintouin. Trois semaines plus tard, mon corps me fait encore payer l’effort, mais je ne regrette rien.
